About

Beginning May 2025 - Waitlist Open

Wendy (she/her) is currently completing the Master of Counselling (MCP) degree at Adler University. She aims to empower clients to reconnect with their sense of identity, autonomy, and meaning. Wendy is dedicated to creating a warm and safe space where clients can feel heard and explore their lived experiences without judgment while building self-esteem and self-compassion within themselves. Her approach is compassionate, curious, and deeply respectful of the unique knowledge each person brings to work.

Approach

My counselling approach is rooted in Narrative Therapy, a collaborative, non-pathologizing framework that sees people as separate from their problems. I also bring a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens to my work. To help clients feel more grounded and safer in their bodies, I integrate Somatic Experiencing (SE), mindfulness practices, and insights from polyvagal theory about how the nervous system responds to stress and safety.

I work alongside clients to explore the stories they carry—shaped by relationships, culture, and life experiences—and to uncover the values, skills, and inner resources that have supported them along the way. I am passionate about empowering clients in shaping stories, processing unfinished emotional experiences, reclaiming agency, and taking meaningful steps toward the life they envisioned.

Professional Experience

I am currently pursuing my Master of Counselling Psychology degree at Adler University under the supervision of Shalene Takara, MA, RCC-ACS. I bring 5 years of experience working with immigrant individuals, families, and children in various settings, as well as a deep commitment to supporting people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. I completed a variety of training and workshops including training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 and BCACC's Unlocking the Power of Narrative Therapy. My work is shaped by a strong belief in the power of storytelling, cultural sensitivity, and connection. I aim to be a compassionate and collaborative presence—someone who creates a space where you feel safe, respected, and comfortable to express yourself fully.
