About

Ghazaleh (she/her) is currently completing her Master of Counselling degree at City University in Vancouver. She brings a warm, grounded, and culturally attuned approach to her work, shaped by her lived experiences and a deep belief in authenticity, resilience, and human connection. Ghazaleh is passionate about supporting individuals as they explore identity, emotional wellbeing, family dynamics, and the impact of culture and systems on their lived experience. She is committed to creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported exactly as they are.

Approach

I work from an attachment-based, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive lens. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), feminist perspectives, and strengths-based and client-centred approaches to support clients in understanding their emotional patterns, navigating relationships, and reconnecting with their sense of agency and self-worth.

My counselling style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in deep respect for each person’s unique story. I believe healing happens in safe relationships rooted in empathy and non-judgment. I strive to create an environment where clients can explore their experiences with curiosity, compassion, and empowerment.

I am especially mindful of how culture, fear, control, and systemic pressures shape emotional experience. I view therapy as a place where people reconnect with their inner wisdom, and my role is to help uncover, strengthen, and honour that wisdom.

Professional Experience

I have volunteered in crisis and women’s health settings, supporting individuals through emotional challenges, safety concerns, and systemic barriers. These experiences strengthened my commitment to advocacy, equity, and compassionate care.

I have also worked with refugees in Germany, supporting individuals and families coping with displacement, trauma, cultural transitions, and identity-related challenges. This experience deepened my understanding of resilience and the complexities of navigating new cultural environments.

In addition, my upbringing in Iran has given me personal insight into the impacts of restrictive norms, cultural expectations, and systemic inequalities. These lived experiences enrich my work with immigrants, refugees, and individuals navigating cross-cultural identities or family transitions.

I continue to expand my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, EMDR, trauma-informed practice, and relational approaches, with a strong interest in integrating feminist and social-justice-oriented perspectives into my counselling work.
